I cannot say enough good things about Fon’s Canines. They are extremely knowledgeable, and they really understand dogs of all types. They cater the training to your dogs’ specific needs, and not cookie-cutter training like other trainers out there. Ricky and Fon were extremely patient and understood our dogs way of thinking to ensure he was successful. Safety is a focus, and we had more headway in 4 private lessons than we have in the 3 years we’ve had our pup. Laurie was great at answering the multitude of our questions and getting us scheduled for our puppies training…We could immediately see the difference in Vern. He was calmer and in more control. We received nearly 1.5 hours of personalized training for us to practice and reinforce the behaviors that were taught to Vern. Much to our surprise, the last step in the process was for a trainer to come to our home 2 days later to see how things were progressing, add any other in-home training we needed and answer any questions we had.

I would give a million stars if I could!! Fon’s Canines changed my life and my dog’s life. I came to Fon’s Canines to train my golden retriever puppy. I am not sure who learned more, the dog or me. We’ve only had a few sessions with Ricky so far, but he’s already made a huge impact on our dog’s behavior. His instructions are clear, easy to follow, and incredibly effective. In our very first session, Ricky helped us stop our dog from pulling on the leash—a problem we’d been struggling with for a while. By the second session, we were already working on recall with great progress.


What I really appreciate is that Ricky doesn’t just show us what to do—he explains why we’re doing it. That context has helped us better understand our dog and feel more confident in continuing the training ourselves in between sessions.

We had our first training session with Ricky today. We brought our (almost) 9 year old Rottweiler and our 13 week old Rottweiler puppy. Ricky talked to us at length and tailored the training session to exactly the things we wanted to work on. He explained his techniques and the science and psychology behind them. Both my fiancée and I were incredibly impressed, and honestly surprised at how well the session went and how much we were able to accomplish.
